It's been a whirlwind of a summer! The orchestra had some unexpected time off in June, so a friend and I took off for Switzerland and France for a week. We hiked, we ate, we shopped, we spoke French!
When we returned, the NSO played one of my "dream" concerts. We played the soundtrack to Back to the Future, while the movie played on a giant screen above us at Wolf Trap. When I was just starting out on the horn, Back to the Future was in theaters, and I was obsessed with the soundtrack. My ears had just opened up to hearing the horn in music, so that, coupled with my BIG CRUSH on Michael J. Fox fueled my love for the movie. Playing the fun horn part was such a thrill, and meeting Lea Thompson and composer Alan Silvestri was icing on the cake!

Every June my husband and I head up to Maine to teach at Bar Harbor Brass Week. This year was our final year of the festival. It's been a wonderful festival, and we are sad to see it go, but we definitely made the most of it. Every minute I wasn't teaching or coaching, my dog, Georgia, and I were hiking!
July was Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, NC. This is a five-week orchestral music camp. There is a full orchestra of professional musicians, and we teach and play during the month of July. The students are amazing-full of energy and inspiration. I had a great time teaching all of the horn students, and hanging out with my summer friends.
August is bringing an incredible trip! I am going to Peru with two girlfriends. We will spend a few days in Cuzco, adjusting to the altitude, and then we will start a 5 day trek to Machu Piccu! We're going with a company called Llama Path, which has great reviews. I have been obsessing over what to pack, since it is winter in Peru, and constantly looking at pictures on Instagram of what other people are wearing. Stay tuned to find out if I was freezing or not!
